Still no buyer
Londoners and Australians, people with nothing to sell, people who see that you get more for your money in Dover, but still no sale, not even an offer. Builder in today to work on the bay window roof and planning to decorate the study.

Contract renewed!
That's it! I said. We are changing agents. I rang agents. Then James came with his dimples and chatted and looked round the house and we signed up for another 20 weeks with Wards.
It was the dimples that did it.
Another viewing yesterday, Londoners with about 8 houses to view in the one day. Phew.

Contract up for grabs
The end of August came with the end of our contract with Wards and Partners and we signed up for a further ten weeks. We dropped the price a bit and arranged for an 'open house' which was arranged for today 11a.m. Yesteday I popped into their branch to confirm we were on for today. Yes they said but only one viewing. I spent two hours cleaning then waited, then worked in the front garden. At 1145 I tried calling Wards but could not get an answer. Once it was answered but the man yelled hello a few times. Apparently he could not hear me. Another time it was picked up and put down. Eventually, half an hour later, I gave up and emailed , shaking with anger. Contract ends November 9th and is up for grabs.

Who has not been to look at our house?
We have had the two blokes and the two women. Various people with dogs have visited as have those with children and the expectation of more children. We have shown an Asian couple round and a lone man who did not walk into the dining room but went back up to the top floor when he could not marry up the windows with what he had already seen. this is a reasonable number of viewings and the more 'traffic' as the estate agents put it, the more chance of selling, but there has not been a single offer and I don't think more than one viewer had even sold their house. It is wearing tidying up and decluttering. I think for the next viewing we should be untidy and homely. That might do it.

No action
No further viewings. Zilch. Now it is June, so even if we sell tomorrow I would guess that we will be here at Christmas. We are talking about decorating the study. Not to sell the house, but because it needs decorating. If no-one views then no-one will see it.
The only consolation to the lack of activity on our house is that friends around the corner who put theirs on at the same time have had NO Viewings! Not one.
I wish the agents would stop sending 'Property you might be interested in' emails and texts. We will want a 3 bedroomed house with a decent sized garden. So we get two bed flats, retirement apartments, etc. etc.

Feedback
Number 5 liked our house but not enough to want it. No negatives, just no wow factor. We had visitors this week - relatives - and they loved it. Pity they don't want to move to Dover. Friends of Other Half would buy it, but do not have any money...

Number 5 or is it 3?
Number 4 arranged for last weekend when we planned to be away so Other Half took a key to the agents and cleaned up. They cancelled. Number 5 is coming this evening and the house is not much worse than it was for number 4 so take the knickers off the radiator, pick the socks up off the floor and we will do. It has been on the market five weeks and there has been about as much activity as son on a Saturday morning.

Nothing happening
On the market three weeks and nothing happening. A third viewer did not turn up. I suppose the house is at least cleaner, but it would have been nice if someone had let us know.

New stair carpet
New blue carpet now on the stairs and the hallways. It is a lot of carpet and took over three hours to put down. The house is transformed. Next - the front door I hope, but since I am not much involved in decorating at present it is hardly up to me.
We want a three bedroom house. So why do the agents send details of a two bedroom chalet bungalow? And what makes it a chalet? It is not wooden, not a steep pitched roof and not in a mountainous region.
Must do something about the lawn.

number two
Mr and Mrs B, very nice, very enthusiastic, want a big house for a planned family and they want to leave Thanet (who wouldn't?) to relocate in Dover.
All very promising, but they have not sold their house.
Clutter out again.

The time has come
In 2008, after a summer of time wasters, we took our house off the market. We had decided to sell it at precisely the wrong moment - as the recession broke. So here we are, many tins of paint and a new bathroom later, and today it is on the market. No photos or description yet and no board, but the energy assessor has been and we have had our first viewing. Mrs L was pleasant but has not sold hers, so a little pointless. The house was as spick and span as we could get it, yet the defects seem to shout out. Him Indoors has been decorating the hall and stairs for centuries it seems. With four storeys that is a lot of decorating. A new carpet is coming on Monday for the stairs and the front door will be painted. We could just carry on decorating, but then we would never get to move. If and when it sells we want a smaller house, bigger garden. I keep looking on +Rightmove but it is no good finding something wonderful with ours unsold. Son does not want to move at all.
I must try not to plan the next garden.
